Kjær Architecture has been commissioned to be the project leader and design architect for the full-scale refurbishment of the historic Hotel Bethel, located in Nyhavn, Copenhagen. The hotel originally served as a home for seamen and is composed of three, interconnected buildings. The refurbishment includes reworking the interior layout to create a new lobby area, to improve flow between buildings, and to optimize the number of hotel rooms. Additionally, the building façade will be refurbished and new furnishings and finishes will be designed and selected. For this important project, Kjær Architecture’s design combines a sophisticated and modern sensibility with an authentic connection to the rich history of the hotel.
